2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt Parts and Accessories

The Ford Mustang is not just a successful muscle/sports car and one of the best-known names in the car world. It is a proper cultural symbol and nameplate that transcendent the limits of the automotive industry. This car was featured in songs, books and movies and earned its spot in collective conciseness. However, the true pinnacle of Mustang legend is probably materialized by Steve McQueen in the iconic Hollywood movie "Bullitt" from 1968. In this memorable police flick, McQueen drives Highland Green 1968 Fastback with S-Code 390 cubic inch V8 in an unrepeatable chase with black Dodge Charger, which created the Mustang legend.

Even though the movie itself had modest box office success, the chase became the household moment for every Mustang enthusiast around the globe. Ford knew that the power of McQueen's name and that old  Mustang was immense and created the Bullitt special editions in 2003 and in 2009, as limited production, special models for true Mustang connoisseurs. Fortunately, in 2018, Ford decided to offer the Bullitt package in RHD as a limited run model for the Australian market.

So, what is exactly the 2018 Bullitt Mustang? It is Mustang GT dressed in special dark green paint offered only with a 6-speed manual and equipped with special wheels, no badging and a few unique details. However, Bullitt is not just a cool-looking package. It also came with substantial upgrades in terms of power and handling. The Bullitt Mustang came with a special performance intake straight from the Shelby GT350, which gave it 15 more hp over standard 460 hp (but the torque stayed the same), and it had a higher top speed of 262 km/h (limited). Also, Bullitt had stiffer springs and Brembo brakes as standard and handled a little better than the standard GT model.

However, Bullitt Mustang was better at driving than regular GT, which meant that it was significantly more expensive. The 2018 Bullitt cost $73,688, and Ford decided to make only 700 examples for the Australian market. Of course, despite the high price, all have been sold, and most owners treat them as bona fide modern classics, which they certainly are.
