2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse Parts and Accessories

The Ford Mustang GT was always a Golden standard of the class, but Ford always offered dedicated track specials for most discriminating buyers. Models like Boss 302, Shelby GT350, Mach I and Australia's own R-Spec had captivated the imagination of enthusiasts and delivered even more in terms of performance, handling and style. The arrival of the 7th generation of legendary pony cars also marked the introduction of the latest performance model – Mustang Dark Horse. Positioned just above the existing S650 Mustang GT and offered in just one body style (Fastback), the Dark Horse is an enthusiast-oriented model for Mustang owners who like to spend their weekends on the track. It is not the thoroughbred Shelby version or parts-bin unique like Mach I, but rather a separate model with some special features.

First of all, the S650 Mustang Dark Horse is impossible to be mistaken for GT since it has a unique front fascia, bonnet with bigger scoops, black inserts and rear spoiler. It looks more aggressive due to unique 19-inch wheels wrapped in performance tyres. The front end sports an optional front splitter and rear Gurney flap for improved aerodynamics and unique badging with a black-out horse emblem. The Ford Mustang Dark Horse interior is basically the same as the S650 GT, but this model has unique blue stitching, different gear levers, and performance seats – cloth as standard and leather as optional.

However, the good news is that Ford decided to offer this model to Australian buyers in limited quantities (1000 examples). However, the bad news is that the Australian-sped Mustang Dark Horse will be less powerful than the American model. The US-spec cars have 500 hp (373 kW) from a tuned 5.0-liter V8. The Australian models will have “just” 349 kw, which is just two kw more than the standard 2024 Mustang GT. Apparently, there is a slightly different exhaust manifold for Australian Dark Horse models to comply with local environmental and noise regulations. The auxiliary engine oil coolers are part of the standard package. The 2024 Dark Horse will only come as a Fastback coupe, and the 10-speed automatic is available, but it will raise the base price to over $103,002. The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual, but not the same as in GT. The Dark Horse uses Termec 6-speed, which is more suitable to track work. The MagneRide suspension as standard and there are also a few more mechanical upgrades, like the Torsen limited slip differentia

The interior is the same as in the GT, with special Recaro sport seats as the only option at $2,950. The dashboard has the same digital cluster and infotainment screams, driver’s apps and features. An exciting and cool detail is the special blue gear leaver knob, which is made of titanium and can only be found on Dark Horse with manual transmission. Again, Oxford White and Race Red are no-cost options, and prestige colours are $700. The Dark Horse Appearance Pack, which costs $2,750, will add blue Brembo brake callipers and a black roof, and it is only available on Shadow Black or Vapor Blue cars. However, with that pack, you can also get a special Blue Ember Prestige Paint, unique to the Dark Horse model.
